# IST Usage and Beyond

IST is a stabletoken for the Interchain.  As such, you can expect IST to become available across IBC-connected chains.

Shortly after launch, incentives will be put in place to reward early users of IST for providing liquidity on major Cosmos DEXes and lending protocols.  Stay tuned for specific announcements.

IST also functions as the primary execution fee token on the Agoric chain - specifically, within the Agoric VM execution model. As the Agoric chain matures, IST's critical role in supporting chain execution and contract payments will become an ever larger driver of its usage.
